Description
The mycelium of the fungus Lactarius Real is a very tasty edible mushroom of the first category, used salt or after boiling for about 10-15 minutes. Cap large, up to 8′ (20 cm) in diameter, at first white, rounded-convex or almost flat, with age becoming funnel-shaped with rolled down the hairy edge, light yellowish, with a faint watery areas. The flesh is white, dense, with a specific odor. The milky juice is white, pungent, bitter taste. It becomes sulfur-yellow when contacts with air. The plates are descending on the stem, white or cream, with a yellowish edge, wide, rare. Foot is thick, long up to 2′ (5 cm), glabrous, white, sometimes with yellowish spots.
Mushrooms are very tasty and rich in protein.
Lactarius is used in renal stone disease, it also contains a substance inhibitory tubercle Bacillus.
